Jorge Latorre Tarrasa was born in 1990 in Alfara del Patriarca (Spain). He starts playing tuba at the age of 8 and received his first musical education at Centro Artístico Musical de Moncada.

 

In 2009, he finished the Intermediate Degree in Tuba with first class honours and achieving the  grade prize at the Conservatorio Profesional Ciutat de Moncada. After a short period, he left for Barcelona in 2010 where he started the Bachelor of Music.

 

Over this time, Jorge has taken master classes with Walter Hilgers, Alan Baer (Solo tubaist of New york Philarmonic Orchestra), Chuck Daellenbach (Tuba in Canadian Brass), Oystein Baadsvik (International classical music soloist),  Roland Szentpali (Solo tubaist), Fabien Wallerand (Solo tubaist in l'Orchestre de l'Opéra national de Paris), Marcus Theinert (Tubaist, General Manager at Miraphone), Guy Michael (tuba and chamber music tutor at the Bern University of the Arts “HKB” and at the Conservatoire of Fribourg), Javier Castaño (Solo tubaist of Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra), Vicente López (Tuba tutor at Conservatorio Superior de Murcia), Sergio Finca (Tuba in Spanish Brass), Ramiro Tejero (Solo tubaist of the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana).

 

During his career, he was a prize-winner of the Fourth National Competition “Vila d’Altea”, and has given recitals as Solo tubaist accompanied by the Symphonic Band of Centro Artistico Musical de Moncada playing the Tuba Concerto for tuba and brass band, composed by Edward Gregson.

 

The magnitude of his skills has led him to participate and collaborate with youth orchestras such as Jove Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana, Banda de la federació de la Comunitat Valenciana, Jove Orquestra dels Païssos Calatalans, as well as prestigious orchestras as for example Orquestra Simfònica del Vallès and Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana, under the conductors’ baton of Rubén Gimeno, Michal Nesterowicz, Omer Meir Wellber, Ricardo Casero, Manuel Galduf or Zubin Mehta.

 

At present, he is studying in his 4 year at Conservatorio Superior de Musica Joaquín Rodrigo de Valencia, tubaist in the musicians’ board  of Joven Orquesta Nacional de España.
